We've been wanting to post these for some time.
This plant is Phrag lindleyanum x Stenophyllum. Stenophyllum is
caricinum x schlimii. This plant has been growing in water since
11/95. It was first put in this same container as a seedling with
a 3" leafspan. It now has 5 growths and if you look carefully in
either photo, you can see the fuzzy outline of a spike. The water
is flushed out weekly using water from our injector system, ie,
the same water/fertilizer ratio that we use on potted and mounted
plants. Neither the container nor the roots have been cleaned
since the plant was placed in the jar. The algal growth is evident.
The root growth is twice that of plants we're growing in pots.
The roots do NOT rot.
